INP Services - Professional Hoarding Therapy and Coaching

Hoarding has been a common problem for decades. Today, it is now recognized as a true psychological disorder with sometmes serious health and safety problems. Recent media coverage of hoarding has increased awareness among sufferers.

Family and friends can have difficulty conceiving the kind of struggle a hoarding life brings. We understand “over-collecting” and the emotional toll that it takes on the family. INP Services is designed to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information about hoarding treatment and assistance.

With our experience, hoarding clean-up will go smoothly and efficiently. Clean-up entails not only clutter removal, but the recovery of all the items in the home that are still useful, valuable, and sentimental. And most importantly, we will work with you to sort through the clutter and work on changing the behavior patterns that cause things to pile up.

Renee Howard, Founder of INP Services

INP Services provides treatment and assistance with hoarding. With the hoarder, our plan is twofold: first to determine what is valuable and isn't needed anymore. And second, we design a regimen to prevent the over-accumulation of new things.

Renee Howard is a business owner and also a former hoarder. The years of shedding an over-abundance of “treasures” and working with others to do the same has helped Renee not only to learn logical organizing skills from the ground up, but also to be empathetic to the emotional plight of hoarders.

A mix of understanding, kindness, patience, and tough love make her uniquely qualified to help in these volatile situations. Her crew has worked with her for over 10 years turning the over-crowded, unlivable home into a warm personality-filled space ready for friends and family to get together.

Renee also turns otherwise unusable possessions into backyard art at Pastiche Gardens

Due to the privacy concerns of our clients, INP does not publicize before and after pictures of our work.

Anything you cannot relinquish when it has
outlived its usefulness possesses you.

Method One

When hoarding has created an emergency situation or family members have been left with a hoard, a timely plan is needed. This is when we can come in and clean up in a matter of days. We will work with you on parameters for clearing out the space in an efficient, safe way.

Sort   We will go through the space and sort out trash, recycling, donations, and keepsakes.

Recycle   Electronics, paper, metal, and appliances will be recycled and the proceeds reimbursed back.

Dispose   Non-recyclables will be removed and disposed of properly

Items of value will be organized, boxed up, labeled, and delivered if necessary.

Method Two

When a hoarder wants to clean up their space, but time isn’t critical, a one-on-one approach is used to slowly sort through items, while new habits and understanding are formed. This flexible method lets the hoarder set the pace for weekly two-hour work sessions and weekend concentrated clean-ups. We recommend that working with a therapist along with the physical work of de-cluttering is the best way to deal with the emotional aspects of “over-collecting”.

Consultation

INP Services offers free consultation to anyone with concerns about hoarding. The consultation is offered anywhere in the Los Angeles area or even just over the phone. Contact us.
